FAQ 86: I found something really bad that wasn't blocked!

DNS based blocking is only part of the battle against viruses, badware, and user mischief. Virus protection and a hardware firewall with strict rules should also be used to mitigate problems.

Consider using DNS Redirector to block all other ccTLD's and GeoTLD's that are not relevant to your business, see FAQ 106.

An even better way to ensure network security and prevent problems is to block everything and whitelist only the few sites/DNS entries needed for business purposes.

Similarly, generic blocking keywords may adversely block legitimate sites, this is known as the Scunthorpe problem. Administrators can whitelist any domain using AllowedKeywordsFile=
