FAQ 161: Dynamic DNS block list no longer includes URL redirect services

Category: BlockedIP function

After Mar 30, 2014 the "Dynamic DNS" list no longer includes domains offering URL redirect/forward/shortening services.

These domains are used by many legitimate services; often to reduce the length of a link (tweeting), copy/pasting links to others ("share" links), newsletters (bulk email), and more.

When these services are abused by people with bad intentions; if the redirect were to go to a known bad site, a DNS lookup would occur for that bad site, and then still be blocked.

To continue blocking URL redirect services you could add these domains to your blocked.txt file, or if using updater.exe to your blocked-custom.txt file.
