FAQ 115: Block sites from being accessed by IP address

Typically you add IP blocking in your firewall/router (using ACL's) but these lists can become huge and difficult to manage.

To ensure all sites are resolved via DNS you can restrict the browser from reaching any site via IP address directly.

Resolution

Cisco ASA 55xx series firewall

Enabling this feature does not require any additional license.

ZyXEL ZyWALL USG 20/20W/50/100/100-PLUS/200/300/1000 firewalls
ZyXEL ZyWALL USG 40/40W/60/60W/110/210/310/1900 firewalls (newer)
(not available on [non-USG] 110/310/1100 "VPN" firewalls)
